When a person kills one or more persons before going on to ‘end’ his/her own life, this chilling event is termed a murder-suicide. Before you begin to imagine all sorts of chilling events, here are 10 murder-suicide stories that will chill you down to the bones.
Sad Murder-suicide Stories That Have Happened In The Past
1. A FATHER AND HIS TWO SONS
Ethan (aged 5) and Owen (aged 4) were abducted by their father, Christopher Cadenbach in November 2015. Cadenbach already had a $100,000 arrest warrant for domestic violence down his neck. When police responded to an alert and tracked him down, he shot his sons and then himself as they approached him.
2. THREE CHILLING MURDERS AND A SUICIDE
In 2016, a man named Lance Buckley called 911 to report three murders and suicide at a home in Stafford County, Virginia. Upon the arrival of the police, he was found dead alongside his wife and two daughters.
Buckley had previously made the news rounds when he disappeared after sending a ‘personal’ text to his wife in 2015. At the time, he was a Howard University doctoral student, a teaching assistant, and a father to a 13-day-old child (his second child).
3. A FACEBOOK POST SEQUEL TO A MURDER-SUICIDE
One a fine day in 2016, Kenneth Bacque’ Jr. made a post on Facebook claiming family troubles and ended it with “Call 911 & Coroner”. The note also stated that he and his son were ‘going home’ while making reference to George Strait’s song ‘Today My World Slipped Away’.
This was reported to the Police who arrived to the corpse of Bacque’ and his son from apparent gunshot wounds. Bacque’ was 59 and his son was 4.
4. A MURDER-SUICIDE WITH A SURVIVOR
A 10-year-old boy slipped out of his family’s van through a window as it sank into a 450 water body. A passing motorist helped him get to the nearby fire station to get help.
Help came too late though as the four other passengers of the van were all dead. The mother had driven herself and her four children off a boat ramp after an argument with her boyfriend (the children’s father).

5. A BLOTCHED NOSE JOB AND TWO DEATHS
Anna Ozhigova, a 33-year-old Sales Representative went in for plastic surgery and came out with a ‘pig nose’. This led to a divorce from her husband which left her hopeless.
She feared that Gleb, her son, was about to be taken away by her ex so she clung to him and jumped to their death from her parents’ ninth-floor apartment in Omsk.
5. BLAME GLOBAL WARMING
In a bid to save their children from the devastating effects of global warming which they believed would end the world soon; an Argentinan couple reached a decision that would end up being one of the saddest Murder-suicide Stories.
A gunshot in the back for their two-year-old son, one in the chest of their seven-year-old daughter, and one each in the head for themselves was the best they could do. The infant however survived and went three days without food or water before a neighbor observed a ‘terrible odor’ and duly reported it.
7. A MAN KILLS HIMSELF AND FIVE OTHERS
Stephen Nnadiogo, a middle-aged Nigerian man, was reported to have been checked into a psychiatric hospital on several occasions stabbed his four children and sister-in-law to death, then went on to drink poison and died.
The bodies of the victims and the suspected murderer were taken to a mortuary by the Police and investigations started. His wife who was not at home at the time was left devastated.
8. THREE LIVES TAKEN TOO SOON
The above words were used by the wife and mother, Melissa Little, left behind after her husband drove himself and their two boys off a pier at high speed killing them instantly. The tragedy inspired her to write a book for children.
9. A HANDWRITTEN NOTE
Cute baby Willow Short survived a heart transplant only six days after her birth, to the amazement of the world, but was killed two years later alongside her parents and two older siblings. A handwritten note found in the home identifies it as a case of murder/suicide.
10. Every Other Case
Number ten is left blank to accommodate every other case of murder-suicide. Mental illness has been identified as a major cause of murder-suicide and it is most chilling to note that if mental health continues to be ignored in our society, then more cases will abound.
