Nikko Jenkins is one of the most controversial and notorious individuals America has seen in its entire history. He is a spree killer who shortly after leaving prison for carjacking, turned on to kill four people.
In his defense, he claimed that he was instructed by the ancient Egyptian serpent god Apophis to carry out the killing. For the crime, he has been sentenced to death. Here is everything to know about him.

1. He had a troubled beginning
The convicted murderer was born Nikko Allen Jenkins on September 16, 1986, in Denver, Colorado, U.S. to David A. Magee and Lori Jenkins. Nikko had always been a troubled kid since he was only a child.
He was taken away from his mom for some time and was later taken to different group homes where he continued exhibiting violent tendencies.
2. His first arrest was at the age of 7
At the age of 7, his path crossed with the law for the first time when he brought a loaded .25 caliber handgun to Omaha’s Highland Elementary School where he attended. By the time he was 11, he had stopped attending school regularly and his violent tendencies became apparent.
Jenkins found his way to the Douglas County Youth Detention Center when he was a teenager.
3. He was sentenced to prison in 2003
When he was 13, Nikko Jenkins was involved in a number of violent assaults including with a knife. At the age of 16, he found himself behind bars for armed carjacking and was sentenced to 21 years behind bars.
Life behind bars did not make him any better as he continued getting into trouble; he was a part of multiple prison riots, attacked a guard at the funeral of his grandmother, and was a part of various gang activities among other things
4. The family members of Nikko Jenkins also have problems with the law
Nikko Jenkins is not the only member of his family that has been into one kind of trouble or the other. In fact, almost everyone, including his extended family members have had cases with the law.
He is from a family in Omaha, the Levering family, which has for more than 100 years been involved in drug abuse, child neglect, and crime.
His great-great-grandfather, Levi Levering was respected and had a high reputation as a tribal leader. However, the face of the family continued to erode with time.
As noted, his father is David A. Magee Sr. Although he was accused of fatally shooting an 18-year-old, the conviction of manslaughter was later set aside. His mother, Lori Jenkins is also sending time behind bars in connection with the murders of her son.
His sisters, Erica Jenkins, and Melonie Jenkins are also convicted felons. His uncle, Warren “Unc” Levering is also convicted of the crime.
5. Is he married?
Nikko Jenkins is a married man and the name of his wife is Chalonda Jenkins. The two met between 2007 and 2008, but the circumstance of their meeting is not known. How they got married is also not known.
Chalonda Jenkins believes that the system should be blamed for the murders her husband committed because she advised that he was not ready to be released but they went ahead and released him.
Also, she said he had always suffered from mental health but got no help from the system. Instead of giving him the help he needed, she said he was put in solitary confinement for the better part of the 10 years he was in prison.
6. Chalonda Jenkins was also imprisoned
Nikko’s wife shares some things with her husband, including spending time behind bars. According to reports, Jenkins who also has face tattoos like her husband pleaded guilty to felony terroristic threats and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor in 2015 and she was sentenced to two to three years in prison.
7. Self-mutilation
While he was in custody, Nikko Jenkins who carved had the number “666” carved into his face was involved in many self-mutilations In 2015, he sliced his penis to make it look like a serpent. He claimed that it was a homage to the Egyptian serpent god he worships. The mutilation required 27 stitches.
He also sliced his tongue because he wanted it to look like that of a serpent.
8. His release from prison
In 2013, after more than 10 years of his 23 years jail term, he was released. Soon after leaving prison, he moved on to have many face tattoos.
Less than a year later, he would be arrested again for a more serious crime; the murder of 4 people.

9. Did He Kill For Ancient Egyptian Serpent God?
According to Nikko Jenkins, his crimes were all a result of the influence of the Ancient Egyptian serpent god that he worships; Apophis.
He randomly shot two strangers Juan Uribe-Pena and Jorge C. Cajiga-Ruiz on August 11. The two were sitting in their car when he robbed them. After this, he killed Curtis Bradford on August 19, and then Andrea Kruger on August 21. Andrea was a bartender and mother of three.
Of these, the only person he knew was Bradford, whom he had met in prison.
According to his wife, Nikko told her that Apophis gives him orders and the god also saved him from committing suicide while he was in solitary confinement in prison.
10. Where is he now?
Since he was a child, Nikko Jenkins has suffered mental illness. In spite of this, he was still made to stand trial in 2014. He represented himself during the trial in which he displayed some behaviors that were unusual such as speaking in tongues and laughing when the murders were described.
He was later found guilty of the crime and was sentenced to death three years later. He also received 450 years in prison on weapons charges.
Nikko Jenkins has petitioned the supreme court to review the death sentence as he was not given the mental help he needed.
