The world over, we have come across obsessed celebrity fans that are willing to do anything to look like their object of attention or be closely linked to them. In as much as admiring a celebrity has its thrills, going the extra mile of doing extreme surgeries till they share a similar look like them is one of the shocking things a fan did. Sahar Tabar, an Iranian influencer made the headlines with her supposed cosmetic surgery which is alleged to be up to 50 procedures to look like Angelina Jolie.
Tabar may have been doing it for her admired celebrity or for the sheer fun of it, yet it landed her a ten-year prison sentence with the Iranian government. Though she was released after 14 months due to a public protest, her case is still a pending one.
Who is Sahar Tabar?
Sahar Tabar is an Iranian social media influencer who was born Fatemeh Khishvand. She is 23-years old and we know this because she was born on June 26, 2001, in Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
From a young age, she wanted to be famous even though her mother objected to this. Regarding her educational pursuit, Fatemah revealed that she did not complete high school. In her adult years, her inability to complete high school was linked to her quest for fame.

She Allegedly Had 50 Cosmetic Surgery to Look Like Angelina Jolie
This led her to discover the use of cyberspace rather than become an actor on her way to becoming a famous person. In 2017, she became a viral sensation for her alleged cosmetic surgeries. According to the different sources at the time, she weighed only 88 pounds and had undergone the knife about 50 times.
As it is, she is known for her zombie look-alike images of American actress Angelina which has earned her the nickname, Zombie Angelina Jolie.
You may be curious to know how she came about this looks; it was through a nose job, liposuction, and lip fillers. To confirm these speculations, she can be spotted with white plaster on the nose similar to those worn post-op or even during the process.
While such extreme body modification may have helped to change her looks, she explained that she had used makeup and editing tools like Photoshop. As to why she goes through all this, the Instagram influencer claimed it is to amuse herself and not to look like the Maleficient actress.
The 23-year-old’s Arrest and Criminal Charge
The then-19-year-old was arrested on October 2, 2019, and charged with corruption, instigating violence, illegally acquiring property and blasphemy. Later, she was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. According to reports, her arrest was due to public outcry.
Notably, her arrest seemed to be one in a series of arrests made. In fact, three Instagram influencers were arrested three days after and they are Sahra Afsharian, Sara Shariatmadari, and Niloufar Moti’ei.
While her sentencing is not new to Iran which is known for its strict adherence to Islamic law, it was quite surprising when the influencer got released after serving 14 months.
It turns out that her release is part of a nationwide protest following the death of Mahsa Amini. It would be recalled that Amini was arrested for improper hijab and later died while in police custody on September 16, 2022.
Her Confession was Aired on National TV
As part of her ordeal, Sahar’s confession was aired on Iran’s national TV. At the time of the airing, Sahar had not gone on trial yet, it did not stop the airing of the clip. In her confession, she still maintained that she uses Photoshop on her Instagram images to attract followers.
According to people that viewed the confession, the influencer was presented as a victim who is suffering from psychological problems that are affecting her mental health.
While other Iranians ranging from dancers, actors, and celebrities have been aired giving confessions, many conclude it is another way of blocking Instagram. As of this writing, her case is still pending despite her release from jail.
