The Baksheevs were said to lure their victims via social media and when they succeed, they would kill the victim and put the body parts in the bathroom, and cut off the skin from some parts before eating it.
Who is Dmitry Baksheev?
Dmitry Baksheev was born in 1982. He worked as a repairman and a general worker. He was later found guilty of robbery and car theft. His wife, Natalia was 7 years older than him. She was born in 1975. They were both from Krasnodar.
Natalia worked as a senior nurse in the sanitation department of the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of AK Serov pilots but was sacked for her chronic alcoholism behavior.
The Russian couple started living together in a school dormitory in 2012. The room belonged to Natalia’s ex-husband. The couple’s lifestyle was said to be antisocial.
Dmitry Baksheev was accidentally caught
The couple’s crimes were discovered by accident. Baksheev mistakenly lost his mobile phone in which he had saved several photos of himself with human remains.
The phone was found by some road workers who reported the case to the police. At first, he denied he ever killed anyone but after interrogation, he confessed that he killed a woman.
While the police were carrying out the investigation, they discovered that the woman that was killed was a resident of Krasnodar. She was identified as Elena Vakhrusheva, a 35-year-old waitress.
How he murdered Elena Vakhrusheva
On September 8, 2017, during a joint alcohol drinking session, Natalia and Elena got into a fight after Natalia thought that Elena was flirting with her husband. The former then asked her husband to kill the waitress.
The couple both stabbed Elena to death and she died as a result of multiple stab wounds. Baksheev and his wife dismembered the corpse and left some of the remains of Elena in their home while they threw the rest.
During the investigation, it was reported that slices of the waitress were found in a frying pan on their cooker in their home. It was also said that the couple also kept the meat from dead dogs and cats.
How Dmitry Baksheev lured and killed his victims
Dmitry and his wife would lure victims from dating websites and carry out their terrific acts. It was also reported that most of the victims were mostly from Krasnodar.
Trial and conviction
Baksheev who was nicknamed devil was first charged with murder but it was later changed to group murder. The case was transferred to the first department for investigation of special importance.
Later on, it was reported by Vadim Bugaenko the head of the investigative department of Russian that the remains that were found belong to just one person.
But then the photos found on Baksheev’s phone suggested that the couple were engaged in killing and eating human remains in the city.
Dmitry Baksheev was convicted on June 28, 2019. He was sentenced to 12 years and 2 months in a maximum-security prison.
He was also to be under compulsory supervision and treatment by a psychiatrist. His wife was convicted in February 2019. She was found guilty of incitement to murder.
Rumors about the Dmitry Baksheev and Natalia
After the conviction of the Baksheev couple, rumors began flying that Natalia supplied the remains which they canned to the school where she initially worked.
It was also speculated that the couple supplied the canned food to catering establishments in the city but the rumors were later refuted.
It was also rumored that 19 pieces of human skin, 7 body parts, photos of eerie dishes, canned food with human meat were found in the couple’s apartment during the investigation.
The murder of the 30 people that were initially reported was later found not true as the authorities believed the couple only met in 2012. Making the 1999 murder questionable.
He died in jail
Dmitry Baksheev did not live long to pay for his crimes. He also did not clear up things before he died. Many believed Dmitry Baksheev died with the secret to protect those involved.
He died on February 16 2020 at the age of 38 of untreated type one diabetes in jail.
