How far would you go to prove that the power of God is at work in your life? If you are hoping to part the red sea there are several ways to accomplish that. You can walk into any nearby zoo and have some chit-chat with lions like biblical Daniel did, fast and pray for 40 days and night or die and resurrect after 3 days like Jesus the Christ. Whichever way, the choice is totally yours but, here are four (4) instances people perished while attempting to make a point about how powerful God is. Anyone bent on proving God’s power shouldn’t take a cue from these guys.
People Who Perished While Proving God’s Power
1. The South African Pastor Who Succumbed In a Bid To Match Jesus’ 40 Days and Night Fasting Record
Thus saith Christ in the Christain’s holy book (John 14:12): “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do…”
Alfred Ndlovu probably read this, believed it and embarked on a marathon dry fasting not just to pray for 40 days and night like the Man of Nazareth did but to outdo him. It wasn’t only an unsuccessful mission for Alfred, he lost his life in the process. But you will have to give the late pastor some credit, it is said that he survived for 30 days.
2. Another Pastor From Zimbabwe Was Ate By Crocodiles As He Tried To Walk On Water Like Christ
Sometime in early 2012, it circulated that a Zimbabwean pastor, Jonathan Mthethwa, the spiritual guide of the Saint of the Last Days Church’s congregation was attacked and fed on by the wild reptiles after he made himself vulnerable to the creatures, trying to walk on water like Jesus the Messiah.
Why would he play God in such a manner right? Well, the Man of God did a series of teachings on Faith, how it makes all things possible, move mountains and all that. To wrap things up, he promised his congregation a practical demonstration of Faith – he would walk on water at the Crocodile River. He attempted it and here are we telling his tale.
3. The Full Gospel Tabernacle In Jesus Name Church’s Snake Salvation Pentecostal Pastor Who Died From a Snake Bite
It is said that the pastor, Jamie Coots inherited the snake handling ministry from his father who inherited it from his grandfather and was hoping to pass it on to his son. But as fate would have it, he didn’t live long enough to do so.
Before his death, the Snake Salvation Pastor discussed the essence of handling snakes as a form of worship to God. He told ABC News that God’s calling for him and his congregants was to toy with venomous snakes and to refuse treatment but wait upon the Lord when bitten for healing.
Sadly, the man died serving his God on the 15th day of February 2014. He was bitten on his right hand during service by one of the snakes. When paramedics arrived to help him, he rejected their help and equally dismissed pleas to visit a hospital. He was left alone and died a few hours later.
4. Prophet Abodunrin Who Wanted To Replicate The Daniels-in-the-Lion’s-Den Story In Ibadan Nigeria
This is a quite a popular legend in the West African country. It is said that proving God’s power for the “man of God” was all about showing that the God of Daniel as in the bible, never changes and is still the powerful deliverer who would stop at nothing in rescuing those who believe in him from harm and danger.
In a nutshell, Prophet Abodunrin grabbed his bible and sneaked into where the lions are kept. The animals didn’t wait a moment, they quickly sent the dare-devil prophet home to be with his God.
